G. William Wilkins, 81

G. William Wilkins, 81, of Lincoln died Monday, April 14, 1997 in Lincoln.

Services were Thursday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Rev. Dan Safarik officiated. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Park with military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 3 and Masonic graveside rites by East Lincoln Lodge No. 210 AF & AM.

Wilkins was born at Blair, Nebraska. He was a retired chief of rural housing for the Farmers Home Administration and had worked for the Department of Agriculture for 35 years. He served with the Army Air Corp 461st Bomb Group Headquarters Company during World War II.

He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 3; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No, 3616; the Scottish Rite, Sesostris Temple of the Shrine and was a past master of Creighton Masonic Lodge No. 100 AF & AM. He was also an admiral in the Nebraska Navy.

Survivors are his wife, Murial A.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael D. and Sue Wilkins, Lincoln and Dr. Leo R. and Kristy Wilkins, Ames, Iowa; a son and special friend and her daughter, Dr. Gerald W. Wilkins and Vicky Lee and Elizabeth Schoen, Lincoln; daughters and son-in-law, Marita F. and Chuck Burmeister, Lincoln and E. Joanne Wilkins, Denver Colo.; 18 grandchildren, Jon and Jackie Burmeister, Blaine and Abby Burmeister, Shane and Amber Wahbeh, Jessica and John Wilkins, and Laura, Kari, Lisa, Katie, Luke, Kee, Kirk, Cody, Kyle and LeeAnn Wilkins; two great-grandchildren, Jon (Jack) Burmeister, II and Maggie Burmeister; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert F. Wilkins, Arlington; Joe and Toby Wilkins, Ennis, Mont. And Dr. Gene and Eileen Wilkins, Ennis, Mont. and sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva and Norman Pearson, Wahoo and Ruth and Gene Kruger, Elkhorn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.

Pallbearers were Steve Brown, Ordell Hennings, Vance James, Clifford Kepler, Victor Kahm and Paul Sindt.

Roper and Sons Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
