Grover Wilkins Dies At Fremont Hospital Wednesday

Grover Wilkins, a long-time farmer and livestock man, died Wednesday at the Fremont Hospital. He was 87 years old.

As a young man he engaged in farming, living midway between Kennard and Arlington in the Colby School District. He had an avid interest in livestock and for years was Swine Superintendent at the Washington County Fair.

His choice of hogs was Hampshire. But he raised Ayrshire cattle and purebred horses, too, and was recognized as an excellent judge of all farm livestock.

He is survived by a son, Robert of Arlington; a son, Joe, of Austin, Minn., and Dr. Gene Wilkins, of Ennis, Minnesota. Mrs. Norman (Eva) Pearson of Wahoo is a daughter as well as Mrs. Gene (Ruth) Kruger, of Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Mrs. Ralph (Bessie) Johns of Port Orchard, Washington, is a sister. There are 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 3rd at the Arlington Community Church, the Rev. Bryce Hecht officiating. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery. The Reckmeyer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Grover Wilkins Survived By Four Sons, 2 Daughters

Grover Wilkins, long-time Washington County farmer of the Kennard-Arlington vicinity was the father of four sons and two daughters. Mr. Wilkins, whose funeral was held Monday, January 3rd, was reported to have had three sons and two daughters.

Omitted from the list of sons was G. William Wilkins, of Lincoln. The other sons are Robert of Arlington, Joe of Austin, Minnesota and Dr. Gene Wilkins of Ennis, Minnesota.

There are two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Eva) Pearsen of Wahoo and Mrs. Rene (Ruth) Kruger, of Elkhorn, Nebraska.
