Henry P. Wilkening, Lifelong Resident of Fontanelle, Dies At 80

Services will be Thursday for Henry Peter Wilkening, 80, retired Fontanelle farmer. He died Sunday at a Blair nursing home.

The son of Henry William and Frederike Bentrup Wilkening, born June 16, 1880, Mr. Wilkening lived in Fontanelle all his life. He was baptized June 18, 1880 and confirmed March 18, 1894. On Dec. 26, 1907, he married Amelia Strenger, who survives.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church at Fontanelle and was active on the church council, building committee and in other church work and support.

Surviving are four children, Alfred of Fremont, Mrs. Elmer (Norma) Bartling of Fremont; Henry J. and Raymond, both of Arlington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lattin & Dugan Funeral Home and regular services at the Salem Lutheran Church at Fontanelle at 2 p.m. Dr. A. C. Baughmann will officiate.
