CHAUNCEY WILKINS DIED SUNDAY

Chauncey S. Wilkins, a native of this county and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wilkins, died Sunday, May 13th at the Convalescent Home where he had been a patient for some time.

He was born July 12, 1896 on a farm five miles west of Blair in the Sutherland School district where he grew to manhood. On April 29, 1916 he was married to Miss Hannah Draeger and for a time they resided on the home farm.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilkins, of whom five are living as follows: Eugene at home; Marjorie of Sioux City; Mrs. Bill Kopocis of Sioux City; Sidney of Fontanelle; Mrs. Leroy Kuhr of Blair. One son, Donald, lost his life on May 11, 1945 in the navy on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill. Besides his children and the wife he leaves four grandchildren. Two brothers, Cleon Wilkins of Blair and four sisters, Mrs. John Biffar of Blair, Mrs. Fred Peck of Herman, Mrs. Ralph Johns of Port Orchard, Washington and Mrs. Herman Petersen of Blair.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Albert and Norman, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Biffar, all of Blair and a host of friends who held him in high respect.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Methodist Church with Rev. Kersey of the Christian Church officiating and interment under the supervision of the Campbell Mortuary will be made in the Blair Cemetery.
