Alma Japp, 87

Services for Alma Japp, 87 of Blair, who died Feb. 14, 1997 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home were Monday, Feb. 17 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery.

Alma E. Japp was born Aug. 9, 1909 to Chris and Emma Kuhr Wrich near Kennard. She was baptized Sept. 1, 1929 at First United Methodist Church in Blair and was confirmed Nov. 27, 1960 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard where she was a member at the time of her death.

She attended Peaacefull Hill Elementary School and graduated from Blair High School. She attended Wayne State College where she received her teaching certificate.

She taught at the LeCrone School.

She also became a beautician and later worked for the government in Detroit, Michigan, Washington, D.C. and Seattle, Wash.

She graduated from Dana College in 1963, and then, taught school at Long Creek and Bennington, retiring in 1974.

She married Fritz Japp April 20, 1949. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Brandt, Dorothy Wrich and Margaret Klotz and by a granddaughter-in-law, Joni Japp.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mayone Japp, Washington; Merle and Debbye Japp, Merritt Island, Florida; Bill and Mari Japp, Kennard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Bill Harper, Kennard and Joan and Jack Lorenzen, Lincoln; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one niece, Mrs. Warren Nielsen, Kennard and one nephew, Merritt Klotz, Kennard.

Memorials may be directed to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Home Chapel Fund.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
