ART SPRINGGATE IS DEAD, AGE 49

EX-COUNTIAN DIES AT FREMONT; HUSBAND OF THELMA McCORMICK

A former Washington County man, 49-year-old Arthur Springgate of 911 North Irving St., Fremont, died Tuesday night at a Fremont hospital. He had been ill over a year.

Mr. Springgate, raised in Arlington, was the husband of the former Thelma McCormick of Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; a daughter JoAnn, 14; his mother, Mrs. Cindia Springgate of Arlington; and a sister, Mrs. Ellen Allen, now of Arlington. A brother died in a fire at Fremont several months ago.

Mr. Springgate once was associated in Blair with John Miller in operating a tire shop. Later he operated a tire shop and also the Green Lantern Café at Arlington. He was in the tire business in Fremont.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fremont Christian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery there.
