Harris F. “Pete” Vogt, 78 of Nickerson, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. Interment, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 71 and VFW Post No. 8332 of Arlington, will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, with the family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to services.

Harris F. Vogt was born April 12, 1928, at Arlington to John and Anna (Stork) Vogt. He grew up at Arlington and was a 1946 graduate of Arlington High School. He farmed until he entered the United States Army during the Korean War. He served from Feb. 9, 1951, to Jan. 22, 1953, and was stationed in Germany. He returned to Arlington and continued farming until his retirement in 2001. He also operated the county maintainer for eight years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher; was a member of American Legion Post No.71 and VFW Post No. 8332, both of Arlington; and served on the Washington County Board of Supervisors for 12 years.

On July 27, 1958, he married Alice Meyer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She survives him, as does a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Chris Vogt of Arlington; daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Mike Focht of St. Louis, Mo., and Lynn Greunke of Nickerson; five grandchildren; a brother, Rupert Vogt of Arlington; two sisters, Edna Vogt and Mildred Vogt, both of Arlington; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, John; brother, Ernest Vogt; and three sisters, Ruth Vogt, Helen Sperling, and Ann Marie Lottman.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran School.

Harris Floyd “Pete” Vogt, the son of John and Anna (Stork) Vogt, was born April 12, 1928 at Arlington, Nebraska. He grew up at Arlington and was a 1946 graduate of Arlington High School. He farmed until entering the U.S. Army during the Korea War. He served from Feb. 9, 1951 to Jan. 22, 1953 and was stationed in German. He returned to Arlington and continued farming. He married Alice Meyer on July 27, 1958 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. Pete was a Washington County Road Department employee for 8 years and retired from farming in 2001.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he served as church elder and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of American Legion Post #71 and V.F.W. Post #8332 of Arlington and was Washington County Supervisor for 12 years.

Pete passed from this life on Friday, February 16, 2007, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 4 days. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Mark and wife, Chris Vogt of Arlington; daughters, Terri and husband, Mike Focht of St. Louis, MO and Lynn Greunke of Nickerson; brother, Rupert Vogt of Arlington; sisters, Edna Vogt and Mildred Vogt, both of Arlington; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John; brother, Ernest; and sisters, Ruth Vogt, Helen Sperling and Ann Marie Lottman.
