John F. (Jack) Eriksen, 77

John F. (Jack) Eriksen, 77, of Herman died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Herman Legion Hall. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Eriksen was born March 8, 1920, near Herman to John B. and Emma Weber Eriksen. He attended the New England and Herman Public Schools. He lived all his life in the Herman area, farming and driving grain and livestock trucks and a fuel truck in later years. He served on the New England School Board for many years. He was a member of the Herman Fire Department; served on the city council and held the position of mayor for several years. On June 12, 1942, he married Evelyn Erikson.

He was a member of Herman Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Herman where he received his 50-year pin in December of 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Roger Barber, Herman and Susan and Jerry Litwah, Bellevue, Neb.; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lou Eriksen, Tekamah; seven grandchildren, Trish and Richard Hansen, Tracie and Kevin Jackson, all of Omaha; Justin and Christine Eriksen of Tekamah and Emily and Sara Litwah of Bellevue; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Paige Jackson of Omaha; and two sisters;, Liberty Clements, Herman and Jeraldine Svoboda of Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
