John Erikson died at his farm home in the Spiker neighborhood at 4 o'clock Monday morning of pneumonia, following a stomach trouble that bothered him for the better part of the past year. The funeral was held at the house at 2 o'clock today, Rev. George Smith of Herman, officiating. Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Erikson was born in Rankesed, Sweden, Dec. 13th, 1862, and was therefore a little past 53 years of age. He came to America in the spring of 1882 and spent on year in Michigan, coming from there to this county, which has been his home ever since. He was married to Miss Martha Petersen, a cousin of Karl Petersen, of this city, July 9th, 1887, and six children were born to them. Andrew, Minnie, Emil, Ruth, Karl and Goldie, a boy and girl alternately, all of whom are living at home.

Besides the wife, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Fred Olson, of Herman and Mrs. Nels Anderson, of Bloomfield. Mr. Erikson was a hardworking farmer and made a success of it so early in life. Besides his old farm, he recently bought the Ed Gilbertson farm and was one of the substantial farmers and citizens of his neighborhood. He will be greatly missed and the wife and children have the sympathy of many friends in their great sorrow.

John Gustav Erikson, a settler in this county since 1883, died at his farm home northwest of Blair at 4 o’clock last Monday morning.

Mr. Erikson had been a sufferer for some time, and the end was not unexpected.

Mr. Erikson was born in Rankesed, Sweden, Dec. 13, 1862 and emigrated to Michigan in 1882 where he stayed for one year and then moved to Washington county where he has since resided.

He was married to Martha Peterson July 9, 1887, and to this union six children were born, who with the wife and two sisters mourn their loss.

Mr. Erikson was a man well known and liked by all his acquaintances. He was a man of sterling qualities, a true friend and a good citizen, and Washington county is the loser by his death.

The funeral is to be held at the residence today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. and interment to be made in the Rose Hill cemetery, Rev. Geo. Smith of Herman officiating.

John G. Erikson Is Dead

John G. Erikson, a highly respected resident farmer of Grant township for upwards of 30 years, died last Monday at his home at 4 o'clock a.m., after a long illness from cancer of the stomach.

Deceased was a native of Rankessed, Sweden, born Dec. 13, 1862, coming to America in 1882 and locating in Michigan where he remained one year, coming from there to this county in 1883 and settling in Grant township where he has resided since. He married Martha Peterson in 1887, and six children were born to them, all living.

Funeral service was held at the home on Wednesday, Rev. Geo. Smith, of Herman, officiating and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
