EVELYN SALTZMAN, 90

Evelyn M. Saltzman, 90, of Fremont died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at the Fremont Care Center in Fremont.

Services were Saturday at Rozanek and Son Colonial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Leland Foreman of First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Mrs. Saltzman was born June 30, 1907, in Loup City, Neb., the daughter of Christopher B. and Rebecca M. (Keller) Haines. She was raised on a ranch near Lakeside, Neb. until she was 18 years old. She then was a midwife and cook for ranch owners in western Nebraska until her marriage to Harold E. Saltzman in 1938. They farmed in Nashville, Neb., from 1938 – 1971. In 1971, they purchased 40 acres in Fullerton, Neb., where she farmed until 1976. She then moved to Texas and lived with her daughter until 1982 when she moved to Blair. She lived in Blair from 1982 to 1984; living in Omaha from 1984 to 1992. She had lived in Fremont since 1992.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont.

Survivors are daughters Margaret L. (Mrs. Abner) Koehn of Jackson, Tenn.; Mary D. (Mrs. Wayne) Goetz of Hillsdale, Kan.; and Mickie (Mrs. David) Karlin of Fremont; a sister, Lucille West Young of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; cousins, Wayne Keller of Oshkosh, Neb., and Gloria (Keller) Bell of Boise, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Tillie Haines and Helen Quell; brothers, Ben Haines, Emerson Haines, Roy Haines and Forest Haines and a cousin, Lloyd Keller.
