WILLIAM D. “SKIB / SKIP” SALTZMAN, 95

William D. “Skib/Skip” Saltzman, 95, of Tekamah, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery. He was a lifelong resident of Tekamah.

He was a professional boxer and later fished, hunted and trapped commercially.

He was well-known in the area for his banjo, fiddle and mandolin playing, and played for many square dances.

In 1934, he married Myrna Allen. She died in 1956. He married Rose Dawson in 1957; she preceded him in death in 1984.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis of Tekamah and Jack of Lincoln; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Mamie Schmidt and Evelyn Simones, both of Tekamah.

In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Laura Saltzman and Beverly Morrison; brothers, Max, Jack and Fred Saltzman, Jerome and Bert Rickard; sisters, Wanda Morrow, Pearl Anderson, and Jennie Kohler.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
