EMORY T. SAMUELSON, 83

Services were Monday, April 13 at Arlington Community Church in Arlington for Emory T. “Shorty” Samuelson, 83 of Arlington who died April 9, 1992 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Rev. Lee Milligan officiated.

Military graveside services were conducted by members of Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71 at Sunrise Cemetery at Wahoo.

Emory T. Samuelson was born December 30, 1908 in Ceresco. He grew up there and moved to Arlington in 1939.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army from September, 1942 to November, 1945.

He worked as a laborer for Union Pacific Railroad prior to working as a salesman for Omaha Public Power District. He retired from OPPD.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church, Retreads Motorcycle Club, Horseshoe Pitching Club and Arlington VFW Post No. 8332.

He married Marie Stewart November 14, 1937 in Wahoo. She preceded him in death March 15, 1991.

His parents also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a niece, Sharon Kay Potter of Arlington.

Pallbearers were Marvin Murcek, James Wyman, Don Ringle, David Kindler, Paul Huff and LaVerne Kumm. Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

ARLINGTON - - The funeral for Emory T. “Shorty” Samuelson, 83, of Arlington will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Arlington Community Church, UCC.

Mr. Samuelson died Thursday, April 9, 1992, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

He was born December 30, 1908, in Ceresco. He grew up there and moved to Arlington in 1939. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from September 1942 to November 1945. He was a laborer for Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a salesman for Omaha Public Power District before retiring.

Mr. Samuelson was a member of Arlington Community Church, Retreads Motorcycle Club, Horseshoe Pitching Club and Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332.

He married Marie Stewart Nov. 14, 1937, in Wahoo. She died March 15, 1991.

Survivors include a niece, Sharon Potter of Arlington.

The Rev. Lee Milligan will officiate Monday’s service. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and an hour before the service Monday at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Arlington VFW Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71 at Sunrise Cemetery at Wahoo.
