A CHILD BURNED TO DEATH

The burning to death of the little 18 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Wentworth on Saturday is one of ? sad accidents ?? of feeling and wring sympathy from the most ? heart. Mr. Wentworth is a bridge carpenter with Perry Haskins and last week the family ? came to Blair, leaving the children at home with their grandmother. She had left the house for a few minutes to attend to some chores at the barn when one of the children ran out to her and told her baby’s dress was burning, and with all haste she made her way to the house finding the child’s clothes all burned off and the poor little darling burned in a frightful and horrible manner and from the effects of which it died in great agony about two hours afterward. When the poor mother arrived home she found her babe a ? and the good old grandmother almost distracted with grief. The scene was touching and pathetic indeed. And the poor heartbroken mother went almost insane with grief. Kind neighbors tendered those sympathies and assistance and on Monday the remains were brought to Blair and buried from the residence of Mr. Haskins on Colfax street. No blame is attached to anyone, as it was purely accidental, and the thoughtless result of the children playing with the fire. The family have the profound and unfeigned sympathy of all in this unfortunate affair that has robbed them for the time being of the ?light and happiness of their home.
