Geo. H. Nelsen Rites Are Held Wednesday

Practical Farmer Honored For Upright Living. Died At 61

After an illness of more than a year George H. Nelsen passed away at his home near Fort Calhoun on August 31, 1941 at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 22 days.

He was born in Omaha September 11, 1879 and later moved with his parents to a farm near Kennard. On February 11, 1903 he was married to Miss Myrtle Wright of Kennard, and to them four children were born.

He was a member of the Methodist church but since moving to Fort Calhoun had become associated with the Presbyterian church of Fort Calhoun where he was an active member of the Men’s Fellowship Club.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, four children, Clyde of Blair; Mrs. Raymond M. Jensen of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Harry R. Paulsen of Fort Calhoun; Mrs. Richard A. Johnson of Omaha and four grandchildren, Don, Clyde, Jr., and Ronald Dean Nelsen and Gerald Lee Paulsen; also two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ward and Mrs. Nels Nelsen of Omaha; and three brothers, E. C. and William M. of Omaha and Chris H. of Kennard; beside a host of friends.

Funeral services, in charge of Sievers and Bendorf, were held at the Presbyterian church of Fort Calhoun at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, with Rev. Sandlin and Rev. Holcomb officiating.

Pallbearers were Art Clausen, Clarence Smith and Rolland Smith of Fort Calhoun, W. B. Rosenbaum and Elmer Andreasen of Kennard and John Burgess of Omaha.

Interment followed in the family lot at the Kennard Cemetery.
