Nina M. Sandberg, 97, of Blair, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Funeral services were held Nov. 20, 2000, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Underwood (Iowa) Lutheran Church.

Nina M. Sandberg was born March 6, 1903, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jens and Sophie (Madsen) Jorgensen. Mrs. Sandberg’s parents had immigrated to the United States from Denmark in the 1890s.

On March 28, 1922, she was married to Herman Sandberg at St. Paul Lutheran Church, near Neola, Iowa.

Mrs. Sandberg farmed in the Underwood with her husband for several years, and also worked at a drapery company in Council Bluffs.

In October, 1986, following the death of her husband, Mrs. Sandberg moved to Blair. She had resided at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home since June, 1993.

She was a charter member of the Underwood Lutheran Church and after moving to Blair, she joined the First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Madsen of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Robert Nelson of Red Feather Lakes, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Maynard and Mary Sandberg of Coos Bay, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, and two sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Underwood Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
