Marymaude Bedford Wion, 62

Services for Marymaude Bedford Wion, 62, of Blair were held Monday, March 11, 1996, at First Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was held at Blair Cemetery. She died Thursday, March 7 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Marymaude Bedford Wion was born March 27, 1933 at Hebron to State Senator Mervin V. and Zelma (Willmore) Bedford. She graduated from Geneva High School and the University of Nebraska, where she received her teaching degree.

She moved to Blair in 1956.

She stated teaching full time in 1984. She taught fifth grade throughout her career.

On Jan. 12, 1988, she married Gerald G. Wion at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of United Methodist Women and church circle.

She also belonged to the American Cancer Society, PEO, Hospital Board, Monday Afternoon Club, Birthday Club, Delta Gamma Sorority and Library Board. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Omaha Community Playhouse.

She was a former Nebraska Cornhusker Beauty Queen.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include husband Gerald G. Wion of Blair, son and daughter-in-law, H. Cooper and Margaret Hanson of Blair, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Time Engler of Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Tony Lawson of New York, N.Y., son Craig Hanson of Chicago, Ill., grandchildren Stephen Engler, Alexandra Engler, Jonathan Hanson, Jenna Hanson and Jennifer Beck.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society-Blair Chapter, in care of Doris Stokes or Opal Jensen.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
