Elmer “Fritz” Wittenburg

Burial was Thursday, June 29 at Green Hills Memorial Park at Long Beach, California for Fritz Wittenburg, 80 of Long Beach, California, who died June 24, 1995 at Charter Hospital in Hawaiian Gardens, California.

Elmer Wittenburg was born June 4, 1915 in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was a World War II Veteran and was a paratrooper in the 181st Screaming Eagles.

In 1947, he married Trudy Atwood. They lived in Arlington, Nebraska for nine years before moving to Long Beach.

In Long Beach, he worked at Douglas and Gaaset Air Research for 17 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Wittenburg.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy and nieces and nephews.
