Arthur H. Wittmann, 84

Arthur H. Wittmann, 84, of Arlington died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services were Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, with the Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiating.

Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Arthur H. Wittmann was born May 26, 1914, in Evanston, Ind., to William and Clara (Mulzer) Wittmann.

His family moved to Nebraska when he was a child and settled near Winslow.

He graduated from Hooper High School.

In 1938, he moved to Arlington and worked as a farm hand until 1940 when he began farming on his own northeast of Arlington.

On May 26, 1940, he married Norma Dunklau at Arlington.

He retired in 1974 and the couple moved into Arlington.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He served as a cemetery sexton at St. Paul’s Cemetery for several years.

He was a member of the Arlington Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Joan Wittmann of Auburn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Kohl of Fremont and Joyce and Dana Udey of Columbus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Narvin “Moe” and Verna Wittman of Lady Lake, Fla., and Ervin and Rita Wittman of Reston, Va.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Rudolph, Oscar and Wallace Wittmann.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington or The Lutheran Hour.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
