Leland Wolfe, 80

Leland Wolfe, 80, of Arlington, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services were Monday, July 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Leland Wolfe was born June 12, 1925, in Seward to John and Jessie (Safford) Wolfe. He grew up on a farm near Denton, and was a 1942 graduate of Denton High School.

His family moved to the Kennard area, where he farmed with his father from 1943 until 1945. The family then moved northeast of Arlington where he met Fern Walkenhorst. Leland and Fern married March 20, 1949, in Fremont. They made their home and raised a family on the homeplace, where he continued to farm and raise livestock.

He loved the land, tending the livestock, a comfortable chair on the back porch, and having his family together.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont. He played baseball on the Kennard town team; served on the Arlington School Board, and was a former acting postmaster at Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; sons and daughter-in-law, Doug and Teri Wolfe of Bennington, and Chuck Wolfe of Fremont; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Tom Wakefield of Kennard, and Becky and Carlos Yandell of Arlington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Wolfe, and a sister, Ruth Wolfe Mackin.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s favorite charity.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

The funeral for Leland “Lee” Wolfe will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Survivors include: his wife, Fern; two sons, Doug (and wife, Teri) Wolfe of Bennington, and Chuck Wolfe of Fremont; two daughters, Sue (and husband, Tom) Wakefield of Kennard, and Becky (and husband, Carlos) Yandell of Arlington; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

The Revs. Phillip Vance and Donald Levenhagen will officiate Monday’s service. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.

Visitation also will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
