Pern Eligha Wood, 80

Services for Pern E. Wood, 80 of Blair who died August 6, 1989 are 2 p.m. Thursday, August 10 at Hamel & Peck Funeral Chapel in Tekamah with Elder Weir Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Pern E. Wood was born May 15, 1909 at Logan, Iowa to Jonas B. and Elsie Chapman Wood. He married Margaret E. Ray on November 21, 1947 at Herman, Nebraska.

He was a heavy equipment operator for several years, and was shop foreman for the Jebco Division of Paxton & Mitchell Bros. Steel at Blair for ten years. An avid bowler, he was also a member of a band known as Early Thompson and His Friends, which entertained residents of the Tekamah Nursing Center on several occasions.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3215 at Blair and was a member of Washington County Lodge No. 21, A.F. & A.M. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife on December 19, 1975. His parents and three brothers, Harry, Jonas and Wilbur Wood also preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons, Lewis Wood of Lincoln, Paul Wood of Olympia, Washington; Dean Wood of Germany and Vern Wood, Schleswig, Iowa; two daughters, Joan Benson of Lincoln and Nell Yowell of North Miami Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Newell of Oregon; five brothers, Edgar C. Wood, Thomas W. Wood, Rex B. Wood, Wallace R Wood and Neal W. Wood.

Hamel & Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
