Roy Woods was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Oakland, Calif., to Chester and Peggy (White) Woods. He grew up in Alaska and graduated from high school in Palmer, Alaska, in 1967.

On Oct. 16, 1993, he married Karen (Jackson) Vraspir in Blair. They lived in Rockford, Ill., and moved to Tekamah in September 2008.

Mr. Woods had many jobs during his lifetime. Among those he most enjoyed were heavy equipment operation, auto detailing and his favorite was working at a wild west town in northern Illinois. He was the sheriff, the blacksmith, mountain man and ran the OK Corral. He had also been employed by the Woodhouse Auto group in Blair.

He was an accomplished artist in all mediums and especially enjoyed portraits and animals. He also did chainsaw carvings. His work was very detailed, like his drawings, and some of them are still displayed in Rockford, Ill. He was also a great storyteller. All of his stories had much truth to them and were based on experiences from his childhood growing up in Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Tekamah; stepson, Kevin Vraspir of Omaha; three brothers: Mike, Walter and Raymond Woods and sister: Charlotte.
