Howard Petersen, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Petersen of Benson, formerly of Kennard, was accidentally killed early Thursday morning while returning from West Point with six other men where they had played for a dance. When near Bennington a tire on the car was punctured and it is thought that while changing the tire the gun he was carrying in his pocket was accidentally discharged, the bullet striking him in the left side of his face and lodging in his forehead, killing him instantly. He was a student at Tech. high school. He is survived by his parents, a brother, Lyle, who was with him at the time of the accident, one sister, Mrs. George Flesher, of Birmingham, Alabama, and a host of other relatives and friends here and at Omaha. Funeral services were held at the Benson Presbyterian church Saturday with interment at the Forest Lawn cemetery at Omaha. We extend sympathy to the grief-stricken family.
