J. S. ROBERTS MOTHER DEAD

HAD WORD MONDAY MORNING OF HER DEATH AT BRISTOL, VA.; WAS ALMOST 94 YEARS OLD

J.S. Roberts had word yesterday morning of the death of his aged mother, who died that morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.J. Stewart, in Bristol, Va., with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband in 1884, but for one year she spent here with Mr. Roberts.

Martha C. Rader was born near Bristol, Papersville, Va., Feb. 17th, 1845, so would have been 94 had she lived a month and a half longer. She had been in fairly good health and Mr. Roberts had a letter from her only about ten days ago.

Mr. Roberts and the daughter with whom she was living, with nine grandchildren, are the only close relatives surviving. One daughter, Mrs. George Hall, died a number of years ago, leaving three children. In that branch of the family there were five generations living and a picture was taken of them a year ago in September when Mr. Roberts and Miss Beulah were back there on a visit.
