MRS. PAYNE DIED FRIDAY

HAD BEEN ILL WITH CANCER AT THE BLAIR HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL WEEKS; FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. Fred Payne passed away at the Blair hospital at 9 o’clock last Friday morning, having been a sufferer from cancer for several months. She had been at the hospital for about two months, where every care was given her, but nothing could stay the hand of Death.

The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. Miss Ethel Mead sang two solos, “Some of These Days,” and “Come Ye Disconsolate,” with Mrs. E.J. Hancock at the organ. Burial was in the Blair cemetery.

Ida May Beard was born April 6th, 1874, so was 54 years, 8 months and 15 days old. She was the last of five daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. William Beard, all the others preceding her in death.

She was united in marriage to C.A. Mason on January 7, 1893, and six children were born to them, one son, Roland, dying in infancy. Those living are Wm. H., of Estherville, Iowa; Birdie E., Mrs. Fred Smith, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Orval A., of Rock Rapdis, Ia.; Hazel A., Mrs. A.G. McTague, of Aurora, S.D.; and Helen G., Mrs. Jack Morrell, of Martin. S.D.

She was married to Fred Payne September 7, 1915. Besides the children above mentioned she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Beard, and three brothers, W.E. Beard, of Wiggins, Colorado; Harry M., of Red Cloud, Nebraska; and Byron, who lives on a farm, north of Blair.

The bereaved family and relatives have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
