RAYMOND B. SATTERFIELD, 74

Raymond B. Satterfield, 74, of Blair, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Raymond Boyd Satterfield was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Hugo, Okla., to Bethel and Alice (Riddle) Satterfield.

While growing up, he worked in the peanut and cotton fields and in the cotton gins. He moved to Nebraska while moving beehives from Oklahoma. After his marriage, he began working on farms and his final employment was at the Blair Water Treatment plant, before he became disabled.

He married Edith Sidebottom on Nov. 24, 1959. The couple had three children, and adopted a fourth.

His family and friends were very important to him. If someone needed anything, they knew he could be called on to help.

Mr. Satterfield enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was younger, but as the years went on, he just fished with his family and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Satterfield enjoyed camping and attending music festivals. They enjoyed the time they spent together, and the many friends they made over the years.

He loved going to have coffee and enjoyed taking along his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also liked to take his great-grandchildren on rides on his scooter and rocking them to sleep.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; daughters and son-in-law, Beth and Larry Ratfield of Blair and Janis Satterfield of Fremont; sons and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marylou Satterfield, and David Satterfield, all of Blair; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Joan Satterfield; sisters and brother-in-law, Alma and Jack Jones, Dorothy Davis and Ruby McAllister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Johnnie, Lonnie, and Ira; sisters, Elder Satterfield, Sue Millsap and Leona Franks; and a great-granddaughter, Jordyn Ratfield.

SERVICES 10:30 A.M. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial Blair cemetery. Visitation starting 9 a.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 – 9 pm. Memorials to Blair Special Olympics or Methodist Church Building Fund.
