BEATTA R. SASS, 92

Funeral services for Beatta R. Sass, 92, of Blair, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Sass died Friday, Feb. 8, at Carter House in Blair.

Beatta R. Sass was born Dec. 5, 1909, in Beemer to John and Pauline (Rabe) Raasch. She attended school through the eighth grade, then stayed home to help care for her nine brothers and sisters.

On Dec. 7, 1928, she married Fred Sass in Bancroft.

Mrs. Sass has lived in Blair since 1942, moving here from West Point. She was a clerk at the Ben Franklin store and a receptionist in Dr. Milton Olsen’s dental office. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church, holding offices in LWML, LLL and Altar Guild. Her hobbies included making most of her own clothing, as well as sewing for others until later years, when her eyesight failed her. She also enjoyed raising African violets.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Clair McKinnis of Blair; daughter, Lucille Ryan of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Wanda Sass of Birmingham, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Loretta Raasch, LeRoy and Hattie Raasch; and sisters, Vernita Whitlock and Vivian Perez, all of California, as well as sister, Elaine Zimmerman of West Point.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son-in-law, Robert Ryan; grandsons, Dan McKinnis and Kevin Sass; brothers, Harold, John and Waldo Raasch; and a sister, Berniece Copple.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Carter House.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
