Henry Sas died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Freeman Parish, at about 3 o’clock last Saturday afternoon of heart trouble from which he had been a sufferer for the past four years. He was confined to his bed but for the last two weeks of his illness. The funeral was held at St. Mary’s Episcopal church at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. Chas. D. Hering officiating. Mr. Sas was born at Romeo, Mich., December 22, 1856, so was 68 last December. His family moved to Boone, Ia. when he was a child and he grew to manhood there. He was married there November 20th, 1882, and their six children are all living, and were all present at the funeral service. Mrs. Eugene Smith, Mrs. Ralph Carter and Harold, all of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. Wilds of Billings, Mont., Mrs. Thos. Dyer of Des Moines, Ia., and John of Boone, Ia. He leaves three brothers, Wm. of St. Paul, Minn., John of Pender and Ferdinand of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Freeman Parish. All of these but Wm. were here for the funeral. Mr. Sas came to this city 29 years ago and has lived here all but about eight years spent in St. Paul. He has made his home with this sister since the death of his wife about four years ago.

Henry T. Sas died at the home of his sister, Mrs. F.L. Parish, on Saturday, and was buried Tuesday afternoon, services being held from the Episcopal church with Rev. Hering in charge. Mr. Sas was born in Romeo, Wisconsin, December 22, 1856, and came to Nebraska twenty-nine years ago last August. With the exception of eight years which was spent in St. Paul, Minn., Mr. Sas made his home in Blair, the last several years living at the F.L. Parish home.

He is survived by six children, three brothers and one sister, the children being Mrs. Gertrude Smith, Mrs. Edith Carter and Harold Sas of Chicago; Mrs. Opal Wilds of Billings, Mont.; John Sas of Boone, Iowa; and Mrs. Marie Dyer of Des Moines. Of the brothers and sister, William Sas lives at St. Paul, Minn., John at Pender, Neb., and Ferdinand and Mrs. F.L. Parish reside here. All the children as well as the brothers from abroad were here to attend the funeral.

Mr. Sas was a good citizen and a kind father; he was of a quiet, unassuming disposition but yet had the faculty of making and holding friends. He had been in failing health for a number of years, but had been seriously ill with his malady of heart trouble only two weeks prior to his death.

OLD SETTLER PASSES

The death of Mr. Henry T. Sas occurred last Saturday, April 4, of heart trouble at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Parish.

Mr. Sas had been ailing all winter but was not confined to his home or bed until a few weeks ago.

The deceased was born Dec. 22, 1856 at Romeo, Michigan and removed to Iowa when but a small lad of seven years.

In his early life he was an engineer on the railroad but on coming to Blair, Nebraska twenty-nine years ago, gave up the occupation and often helped in the Sas Bros. General Merchandise store, owned by his brothers and sister in this city.

Following the death of his wife, he has lived quietly at the home of his sister for the past four years.

He is survived by three brothers: William of St. Paul, Minn., John of Pender, and Ferdinand of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Parish of this city. Also six children, as follows, all of whom were present at the funeral services: Mrs. Gertrude Smith, Mrs. Edith Carter, and Harold of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Opal Wilds of Billings, Mont.; John of Boone, Ia.; and Mrs. Marie Dyer of Des Moines, Ia.; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Void Ireland of this city.

Funeral services were held on last Tuesday afternoon, April 7, at two o’clock at the Episcopal church and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
