Paul M. Kalkowski, 62, of Kennard, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Kennard Cemetery.

There will be no visitation, but friends may sign the guest book from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.

Paul M. "Mike" Kalkowski was born Sept. 3, 1947, in Lynch to Francis X. and Verna (Burt) Kalkowski. He was raised in Lynch, where he also attended school.

In 1968, he moved to the Arlington/Kennard area. He worked for several local farmers before starting to work in the construction trade. He worked for the NRD for the past 24 years, doing conservation excavating work.

On Aug. 1, 1977, he married Patricia Marks at Sisseton, S.D. She survives him, as does a daughter, Michelle Kalkowski of Lake Andes, S.D.; three grandchildren; and a brother, David Kalkowski of Lynch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Helen Oberle.
