Vera M. Ernst, age 94, of Craig, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 11th, 1989, at the Oakland Heights Care Center in Oakland, Nebraska, where she had been a resident since December of 1987.

Vera was born on October 12th, 1894, at Craig to Henry and Anna Miller. She was united in marriage to Ross William Ernst on December 1st, 1915, at her parents home in Craig. The couple farmed near Craig for many years. Mr. Ernst passed away on June 30th, 1968. Vera was a longtime member of Craig Chapter #157, O.E.S. and Daughters of the Nile and was a lifetime member of the Craig Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two nieces: Delores Blackstone of Julian, California, and Connie Armitage of Aspen, Colorado; five grand-nieces and one grand-nephew; several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Ethel Armitage and Dorothy Blackstone.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 14th, 1989, at the Craig Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Hal Smith officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekemah.
