Evelyn Spes Tierney Killingsworth

Evelyn Spes Tierney Killingsworth of Blair, known to many who fished as "the worm lady on State Street," died on Monday, February 18, 2013, in her home.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, at County Bible Church in Blair with a luncheon to follow.

Evelyn Spes was born May 29, 1930, to Joseph and Catherine Spes in Ewing. She married Willard T. Tierney on May 30, 1949. Together they had nine sons.

Mr. Tierney preceded her in death in August of 1966.

She later married Melvin Killingsworth, who preceded her in death in 1971.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary and Leslie Tierney of Kennard, Joe and Dawn Tierney of Blair, Jerry and Sheila Tierney of Lyons, Bill and Nancy Tierney of Blair, Dan and Teresa Tierney of Omaha, Debbie Tierney-Burger of Blair, Steve and Marcy Tierney of Blair, Jim and Chris Tierney of Cape Corral, Fla., and Kim Tierney-Vopnford of Blair; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Spes and wife Janice of Fremont; and one sister, Sylvia and husband Carroll Frye of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Willard Tierney and Mel Killingsworth; two brothers, Ted and Edwin; four sisters, Monica, Leona, Josephine and Rosie; as well as two sons, Tom Tierney and Mike Tierney.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
