A funeral mass was held Saturday, July 1, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa for Isadore Wingert, 81 who died June 28, 1989 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. A Wake service was held Friday at Pauley Funeral Home. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery in Westphalia, Iowa.

Isadore Wingert was born April 24, 1908 at Panama, Iowa to Charles and Mary Wingert. He was baptized and received his first communion at Panama. He attended a nearby country school.

He farmed with his parents and helped area farmers. On May 3, 1938 he married Stella Kramer.

They farmed near Portsmouth until 1942. They then moved to a farm near Panama and in 1948 returned to Portsmouth to farm.

His wife preceded him in death on May 4, 1980.

He moved to Harlan where he was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice (Mrs. Orville Ficher), Council Bluffs, Iowa; and three sons, Dr. Orlyn Wingert of Omaha, William Wingert of Harlan, Iowa, and Robert Wingert of Red Oak, Iowa. Twelve grandchildren; one sister, Gerelda (Mrs. Harold) Klein of Dunlap, Iowa; and three brothers, Louis Wingert, Reno Wingert, both of Panama, Iowa; and Rev. LaVerne Wingert of Griswold, Iowa also survive him.
