Mrs. Ervey is Dead at Age 74

Widow of Blair Farmer Died Today; Was Lifetime Countian

Mrs. Ella Ervey, 74, of 410 West Lincoln St., widow of Harry Ervey, died at 2 a.m. today at Dodge County Community Hospital in Fremont. In failing health several years, she became seriously ill more than two weeks ago and was taken to the hospital Monday.

The Campbell Mortuary has charge of funeral arrangements which were not completed at noon today.

Mrs. Ervey, a lifetime resident of Washington County, was Ella Compton before her marriage Dec. 24, 1891. Her husband died Nov. 2, 1945.

Surviving are four daughters, Misses Nellie and Vera Ervey of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Fern Tegt of Fremont and Miss Faye Ervey at home; three sisters, Mrs. Nell McManigal of Walthill, Mrs. Ben F. Peck (Lue) of Blair and Mrs. Fannie Lund of Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Carl Compton of Weeping Water and John M. Compton of Blair; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary McManigal of Blair, and two half-brothers, Charles and A. P. Compton, both of Blair.

Minnie Ellen Compton was born March 27, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Compton, pioneers of Washington county. She was married to Harry Ervey December 24th, 1891. He preceded her in death November 2, 1945. The survivors include four daughters, Fern (Mrs. Henry Tegt) of Fremont; Vera (Mrs. Carl Weeks) and Nellie of Phoenix, Arizona; and Fay at home.

The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Millicent McManigal of Walthill, John M. Compton and Mrs. Ben Peck of Blair, Carl B. Compton of Weeping Water and Mrs. Fanny Lund of Casper, Wyo. There are also two half brothers, Charles and A. P. Compton and a half sister, Mrs. Mary McManigal, all of this city. A brother, A. A. Compton and a sister, Mrs. Maude Lemon, preceded her in death. Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

She had been a member of the Church of God for 35 years, and held membership in the Rebecca Lodge of which she was a Past Noble Grand.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 15th, at the Methodist church with Rev. Sidney L. McCaig of Blair, assisted by a minister from Omaha, officiating, and interment, under the supervision of the Campbell mortuary, was made in the Blair cemetery.
