SCHAFERSMAN RITES SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 1981 for Chester F. Schafersman, 77, who passed away at Good Shepherd Home in Blair on April 27th. The funeral will be conducted at First Lutheran Church in Blair at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, by Reverend Kurt Sortland, with burial in Blair Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Stan Taylor, William Schafersman, Al Benes, Les Kruger, Darrell Flake and Alan Bouschult. Vocalist will be Jean Marie Barratt, and the organist will be Clare Cowing.

Mr. Schafersman was born on August 27, 1903 in rural Arlington (Telbasta) to Edward and Mary Schafersman. He attended school District 14 in Telbasta. He was married in Winslow on July 20, 1945 to Vera Hansen. He ran the Telbasta store until 1959, and purchased a store in Nickerson in the early 60’s and sold it in 1968. They moved to Blair in 1957. In later years Mr. Schafersman had worked for IGA and Loyal’s until 1979. From September 24, 1942 until March 24, 1943, he was a member of the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps. He was on the hospital board when the Blair Hospital was built.

Survivors include a son, LeRoy of Arlington; a daughter, Carole of Blair; and two grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death on May 20, 1969. A sister, Mrs. Richard (Vera) Melvard of Arlington also survives.
