Louis S Wise Dies In N.D. At Age 96

Louis S. Wise died on Thursday, June 21st. at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, N.D. where he had been a resident for the past year and a half.

He was 96 years of age, having been born February 26th, 1877 in Liecester, England. He came to this country at the age of 11 years with his parents and younger brother.

The family settled near Berea, Ohio. When a young man he came to Nebraska and worked as a telegraph operator for the Great Northern Railroad. While stationed at DeSoto, he met his wife, the former Minnie Hineline of that little village. They were married in Blair on September 19th, 1904. They were the parents of 12 children, all except one infant daughter surviving him.

The family left Blair and settled on a farm near Walcott, N.D. in October of 1925. Mrs. Wise passed away 2 years later.

Surviving children are, 6 daughters: Mrs. Menno (Jane) Larsen, Mrs. Joe (Betty) Thompson, both of Blair; Mrs. Carl (Louise) Edwards of Rogers, Ark.; Mrs. Oscar (Marjorie) Waibel of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Don (Sylvia) Newton of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Peter (Effie) Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska. The five sons are: George Wise of Mollala, Ore.; Walter of Great Falls, Mont.; Don of Nestor Falls, Ontario, Canada; Lee of New Haven, Conn.; and Paul of Fargo, N.D.

Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A brother, Leon Wise of Dunedin, Florida also survives.

Funeral services were on Monday, June 25th in Fargo. Interment was in the Barrie Cemetery near Kindred, N.D.

Pallbearers were 3 grandsons and 3 great-grandsons.
