Ada Gnuse Wood, 83

Services were Wed. Dec. 4 at the First Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho for Ada Gnuse Wood, 83 of Roberts, Idaho, who died Nov. 28, 1996 at the home of her son. Rev. Barbara Condon officiated. Burial was at Fielding Memorial Park.

Ada Gnuse Wood was born Jan. 31, 1913 at Arlington to Herman and Adela Brunkow Gnuse. She attended school and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, north of Arlington. She finished her education at District 42 High School in Arlington.

She worked for the JC Penney Company in Idaho Falls and Mackay, both in Idaho and Long Beach, Calif. She retired from Penneys after 30 years of service.

She married Don E. Wood Feb. 27, 1941 at Dillon, Mont. They ranched and farmed first in Mackay, where their son, Richard was born; then in the Idaho Fallls area; Montana and back in Idaho Falls. Don E. Wood preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1977.

She married Daryl Wood Sept. 30, 1986 at the Lutheran Church in Colfax, Wash. During the first five years of their marriage they spent the winters in Arizona, dividing the rest of the year between Idaho Falls and Colfax.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. She was active with the Happy Stitchers after her retirement and was a member of Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Daryl Wood of Colfax, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Dan and Ann Wood of Roberts; step-sons and step-daughters, Larry and JoAnn Wood of Colfax; Bill and Connie Wood of Princeton, Idaho; two sisters, Marjorie Hilgenkamp and LaNetta Bensen, both of Arlington; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Joe Wood of Boise, Idaho; Rebecca Clinger of Menan, Idaho; Donna and Wade Gratiot and Marcie Wood of Roberts; Karl and Lisa Paige of Blackfoot, Idaho; Karlene and Bill Hardy, Mackay, Idaho and Rita and Floy Saurey of Rexburg, Idaho and nine great-grandchildren.

Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
