Ida Ibsen Espenschied, 82

A memorial service for Ida Ibsen Espenschield, 82, of Fremont, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Bishop Carl Layman of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Interment will be in the Ridge Cemetery, Fremont. Mrs. Espenschied died Jan. 7, 2001, at the A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Ida Ibsen Espenschied was born March 25, 1918, in Fremont to Otto and Mary (Harvey) Ibsen. She grew up in Fremont, and attended the Beebe School at rural Fremont. She lived in Fremont most of her life. She was employed as the supervisor of housekeeping at the Fremont Area Medical Center until her retirement in 1982.

In 1941, she was married to William S. Wimmer; he preceded her in death in 1942. She later married Alan Espenschied, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Espenschied was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fremont.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sally Manka of Fremont, Sue and Jack McClanahan of Omaha, and Cindy and Kirk Osborn of Meadow Grove, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Claus Ibsen, and Gordon and Maxine Ibsen, all of Fremont, Henry and Ann Ibsen of Blair, Peter and Mary Ibsen of Tacoma, Wash., and Albert Ibsen of Omaha, a sister-in-law, Jenny Ibsen of Tacoma, Wash., seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Espenschied, two brothers, Walter Ibsen and Herman Ibsen, and three sisters, Viola Ibsen, Clara King and Jean Tracy.

Memorials are suggested to S.M.I.L.E. (Stephanie’s Miracles in Loving Equine), an equestrian camp for handicapped and disabled children, 54646 832nd Road, Madison, NE 68748-6602.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
