SERVICES HELD FOR ANNA SCHAKAT IN BENSON

Funeral services for Anna Schakat were held Saturday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m.,. at the Benson Baptist Church. Rev. Darrell Heidner officiated.

Ann Schakat was born to Henry and Rose Palhe on March 15, 1897, at Benson, Nebraska. She attended school at District 17 and Millard High School. She became a member of Benson Baptist Church in 1914.

On February 23, 1921, she united in marriage to Karl Schakat. They farmed near Elk City and Bennington. Two children were born to this union.

She passed away in her home near Bennington on Wednesday, September 13, 1978, at the age of 81. Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. Survivors include her husband, Karl, and a son, Arthur of Hastings, Nebraska, and a daughter, Mrs. Don (Anita) Sweazy, of Bennington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Organist for the services was Mrs. J.B. Goff. Soloist Mrs. Barbara Kreitler, sang “In the Garden” and “My Saviour First of All."

Pallbearers were Craig LeBar, Joel DeSousa, John Schakat, Ben Sweazy, John Sweazy and Don Sweazy, Jr.

Interment was at Flower Hill Cemetery.

The Kremer Funeral Home of Omaha was in charge of the arrangements.
