A.H. “BARNEY” SCHEER, 92

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont for A.H. ”Barney” Scheer, formerly of Fremont who died February 12, 1990 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen and Rev. Rodney Scheer are officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery at Fremont with military services by the Fremont American Legion Post No. 20 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 854.

A.H. “Barney” Scheer was born October 2, 1897 at Fontanelle, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm south of Fontanelle.

He farmed ten years near Arlington and then operated a bulk oil truck in the Arlington area before entering the Army during World War II. After his discharge, he worked at Seattle, Washington for four years before coming back to Fremont. He then worked at the Mead Ordinance Plant at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha. He retired from civil service in 1967. He had resided at the Scribner Care Center for the past year.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Layman’s League, both in Fremont. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 20 in Fremont.

He married Bertha M. Osterman September 14, 1944 at Seattle, Washington. She preceded him in death on February 9, 1969.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Matilda Jacobs Scheer; brothers, Clarence, Martin, Herbert and Elmer; and a sister, Leona Wolters.

He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Mabel Scheer of Fremont; Gladys Boschult, Fremont; and Phyllis Badger, Denver, Colorado; six nieces and four nephews.

Pallbearers are Michael James, Don “Moe” Moller, Milford Jones, Lyle Hoffman, Kenneth Hoffman and Dion Roeber.

Mrs. Elaine Beyers is organist.

Moser Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements for the services.
