Laverne A. Richardson, 86

Laverne A. Richardson, 86, of Lincoln, formerly of Blair, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, in Lincoln. A wake will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 15, at South Creek Conference Center, 715 Grant St., Blair.

Laverne Ann Cerv was born February 17, 1927, to Henry Cerv and Henrietta Staska of Weston. She was second of four children, including an older brother, Bob Cerv, and two younger sisters, Joyce Kucera and Bonnie Nelson.

After graduating from high school in Weston, she owned a beauty shop with her aunt Helen Hatch.

She married Dick Shanahan and moved to Colorado where they owned and operated a bar and restaurant. Then she moved to California.

They had six children: Debbie Shanahan of Hastings, Lon "Butch" Shanahan (deceased), Margo Shanahan of Corona, Calif., Brad Shanahan of Blair, Jeff Shanahan of Fremont and Kurt Shanahan of Fremont.

She then married William J. Richardson of Kentucky (deceased) and had a seventh child, Ryan Richardson of Lincoln.

They moved back to Blair to finish raising their family. She was dedicated to her children and attended a tremendous amount of year-round sporting activities with extreme enthusiasm.

She had 19 grandchildren.
