EMMA C. SCHEER, 101

Emma C. Scheer, 101, of Nickerson, died Monday, July 5, 1999, at Fremont Care Center.

Services were 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. The Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiated.

Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Emma C. Scheer was born Dec. 1, 1897, to Herman and Carolina (Karstedt) Wehmeyer in Drake, Mo.

She grew up in Drake and for five years lived in St. Louis, Mo., before settling in Arlington in 1920.

On Sept. 20, 1922, she married Leonard Scheer in Arlington, and the couple farmed in the Nickerson area.

On Jan. 27, 1976, her husband died and in 1991, she moved into the Fremont Care Center.

Emma was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and of the Women’s Missionary League

. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Lola Scheer of Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Lila Scheer of Arlington; three brothers, George Wehmeyer of Rosebud, Mo., Theodore Wehmeyer of Ownesville, Mo., and Herman Wehmeyer of Cuba, Mo.; two sisters, Alma Mueller of Maumee, Ohio, and Ruth Wehmeyer of St. Louis, Mo.; and 11 step-grandchildren and 22 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard; two brothers, Henry and Walter Wehmeyer; and six sisters, Ida Wehmeyer, Ella Wehmeyer, Katie Kruger, Marie Sander, Hulda Linebroeker and Helen Blumenschein.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Ministry.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
