Mrs. James Woods

Mrs. James Woods, the wife of our second son, James Wood, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City on March 24, 1913, after a severe operation and several weeks’ suffering, aged about 39 years. She was a daughter of German parents and was married to James in Blair, December 5, 1891, when her parents lived on the bottoms east of Ft. Calhoun and have lived in several parts of the state since, a few years ago settling in Emerson, where he mother lies buried. She leaves besides her husband, a daughter, Irene, married to James C. Johnson, and a younger son and daughter and one grand-child, the last being our only great-grandchild.

She was a hard working, industrious woman that we esteemed very highly. When we visited her in Sioux City a couple of weeks ago we found her cheerful and bright although she knew she would live but a short time.

Her widowed father, Elder Banning, lives in Emerson and her brother, Gus, in Iowa. I did not feel able to attend the funeral. W. H. Woods.
