Xona D. Groves, 88

Xona D. Groves, 88, of Blair, died Friday, March 8, 2013. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.

Xona D. Sheets was born May 12, 1924, in Herman to Will and Mable Sheets. She was the middle child of 13 children.

On September 15, 1943, she married Walter L. Groves. They moved to Omaha in 1944 and she lived there until 1977. She lived in Louisville, Arlington and Blair.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren and great-great-grand child. Mrs. Groves also loved to embroider and made many keepsakes for her family. She enjoyed playing pinochle and bingo and was an avid collector of cardinals and salt and pepper shakers.

She lived at Parkview Manor for the last 17 years and will be missed by the many friends that she made there.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Pat Groves of Craig, Mo.; a daughter, Rosemary Stotts of Louisville; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Kenneth Kleckner of North Bend; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milford Sheets of Versailles, Mo., Wilford and Darlene Sheets of Cedar Bluffs and Leroy and Alice Sheets of Central City.

She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Groves; siblings, Inez Goreham, Mabel Iona “Onie” Goreham, Hazel Richman, Elizabeth Loges, Herald Sheets, Will L. Sheets Jr., Dorena Dalton and Gerald Sheets; and granddaughter, Angela Schroeder.
