She grew up in Fort Calhoun, helping her family with their farming chores, as well as picking berries for Kay's Orchards.

She later worked at Tip Top Manufacturing in Omaha, where she met her future husband, Wade Sheppard Jr., as he made deliveries to the plant.

They were married in Omaha on August 17, 1947.

They made their home in Ralston where they raised their three children: JoAnn, Ed and Bob. It was in Ralston where they opened their first business, the Ralston Family Store, in 1955.

In 1960, the couple purchased the Sievers General Store in Fort Calhoun. In 1964, along with Hans Kay, they started K&S Gardens in Fort Calhoun.

They sold Sheppard's Grocery in 1965, and later that year, opened the Hobby Hut in Blair, which they ran for about four years. K&S Gardens was expanded, and Mrs. Sheppard also helped Mr. Kay with Kay's Orchards in Fort Calhoun.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Russ Daly; sons and daughter-in-law, Ed and Connie Sheppard and Bob Sheppard; sister, JoAnn Crofton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
