Myron D. Marquardt, 86

Myron D. Marquardt, 86, a former resident of Washington County, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Silver Spring, Md.

A memorial service was Friday, March 22, in Silver Spring.

Myron D. Marquardt was born on a farm at Hooper to Elberth and Elsie Marquardt.

At the age of 5, he moved with his family to a farm in Washington County where he spent his formative years.

He attended rural school and graduated from Hooper High School as class valedictorian.

He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated as an electrical engineer.

Mr. Marquardt was employed by various companies during his career. He spent more than seven years working and living in Okinawa, Japan.

He returned to the United States and spent most of his working years on the East Coast. He retired in the Washington, D.C. area.

He loved to travel, going to every continent in the world and every state in the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fumiko; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jennifer; two grandsons; and brother and sister-in-law, Quentin and Ramona Marquardt of Nickerson.
