Services are on Thursday for Chris Wulf

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at First Lutheran Church for Christian D. “Chris” Wulf, 96, who died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair on December 26, 1983.

The Rev. Carl Schattauer, Jr., is officiating. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.

Christian Detlef Wulf was born January 20, 1887, on the home farm, 5 ½ miles west of Blair, to Christian and Wilhelmine Voigt Wulf. He farmed in Stanton County with an older brother while in his teens.

He married Frieda Marie Kerstein and they lived on the home farm until 1946. They lived briefly in Fremont before moving to a farm in the former Sutherland School district. They moved to Blair in 1958 where he lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, in 1971; a daughter, Erdine Wulf Rasmussen, in 1964; his parents, Christian and Wilhelmine Wulf; an infant sister, Mathilda; and two brothers, Emil and Gustav.

He is survived by three sons, Marvin Wulf, Hudson, Iowa; Norman Wulf, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Lester Wulf, Blair; and one daughter, Margaret Behrendt, Omaha. Fifteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Minnie Vizina of California.

Pallbearers will be James Wulf, Allan Wulf, Leonard Wulf, Eldon Wulf, Duane Wulf and Dennis Wulf.

Clare Cowing will be the organist. Dave Carlson will be vocalist.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.

He farmed in Stanton County with an older brother when in his teens. Following his marriage to Frieda Kerstein, they lived on the home farm until 1946. They lived briefly in Fremont before moving to a farm in the former Sutherland School District. They moved to Blair in 1958, where Mr. Wulf resided until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, in 1971; daughter, Erdine (Wulf) Rasmussen, in 1964; parents, Christian and Wilhelmine Wulf; infant sister, Mathilda; and two brothers, Emil of Scribner and Gustav of Blair.

He is survived by three sons, Marvin of Hudson, Iowa; Norman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Lester of Blair, Nebraska; one daughter, Margaret Behrendt of Omaha, Nebraska; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Minnie Vizina of California.
