LEONARD SCHEER, OF NICKERSON, DIED TUESDAY

Leonard Scheer, 81 year old retired Nickerson farmer, died Tuesday noon at the Dodge County Memorial Hospital in Fremont. He had been ill since November.

He was born May 14, 1894 at Nickerson and he spent his entire lifetime on the home farm near that place.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymen’s League.

He was married September 20, 1922 to Emma Wehmeyer and they spent their entire life on the farm until his recent retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, and by two sons, Melvin and Richard, both of Nickerson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and burial will be made in St. Paul’s Cemetery under the direction of the Reckmeyer Funeral Home of Arlington.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul’s Church Building Fund or to the Lutheran Hour funds.

Leonard H. Scheer was born May 14, 1894 at Nickerson, Nebr. He was the son of the late Frank and Augusta (Giesselman) Scheer. Leonard was baptized into the Lutheran Faith May 27, 1894 and was confirmed April 12, 1908 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

On September 20, 1922 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Emma Wehmeyer of Drake, Missouri by Rev. G.W. Wolter at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Leonard was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and lived his entire life on the farm at Nickerson where he was born.

He passed away Tuesday, January 27, 1976 at the Annex of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 13 days. He is survived by his wife, Emma and two sons, Melvin and Richard, all of Nickerson.
