OBERT F. SCHEER, 88

Obert F. Scheer, 88, of Arlington died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. The Rev. Dennis Maaske will officiate. Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Arlington.

Obert F. Scheer was born Jan. 11, 1913, in rural Arlington to John and Wilma (Schormann) Scheer. He attended St. Paul’s Parochial School, and took a short course at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln College of Agriculture. He lived in the Arlington area all of his life, where he farmed. He worked for several years for the Washington County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service office.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and was a church elder, choir member, and Lutheran Laymen’s League.

On June 28, 1939, he married Selma “Sally” Krohn at Winslow.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Joel Stablein of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Joyce and LeRoy Pendley of Blair; and Martha and Steve Andersen of Arlington; two sisters, Esther Grebe and Lilly (Mrs. Walter) Krohn, all of Fremont; a sister-in-law, Norma (Mrs. Ben) Schole of Hooper; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Walter Plugge; five brothers, Garhardt, Otis, Alfred, Oscar, and Waldemar; three sisters, Helen Geisler, Wilma Kroshn and Frieda Walkenhorst; an infant grandson, Kyle Plugge, and an infant great-granddaughter, Kelsey Pflug.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

Obert Frank Scheer, the son of John F. and Wilma (Schormann) Scheer, was born January 11, 1913, at rural Arlington, Nebraska. He attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and also took a course at the university of Nebraska at Lincoln, College of Agriculture. Obert married Selma “Sally” Krohn on June 28, 1939, at Winslow, Nebraska.

Obert passed from this life on Friday, January 19, 2001, at the Crowell-Memorial Home at Blair, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years and 8 days. He is survived by his wife, Sally; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Gwen & Joe Stablein of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Joyce & LeRoy Pendley of Blair; and Martha and Steve Andersen of Arlington; 2 sisters, Esther Grebe and Lilly (Mrs. Walter) Krohn, all of Fremont; sister-in-law, Norma (Mrs. Ben) Schole of Hooper; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
