OSCAR H. SCHEER, 84

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington for Oscar H. Scheer, 84 of Arlington who died February 18, 1990 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery near Arlington.

Oscar H. Scheer was born April 27, 1905 in rural Arlington. He lived all his life in the Arlington area dn farmed northeast of Arlington until 1958 when he moved into Arlington. He then worked at Consolidated Blenders for 15 years before retiring.

He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. He served on the church finance board, in the choir and St. Paul Octet and was a member of St. Paul’s Voters Assembly for many years. He also was a member of St. Paul’s School Board for many years.

He married Esther Dickmeyer May 17, 1931 at Arlington. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma Schormann Scheer; a son, Verdell Scheer; three brothers, Gerhardt Scheer, Otis Scheer and Alfred Scheer; and a sister, Helen Geisler.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Marlin and Joni Scheer of Arlington; Wayne and Linda Scheer of Fremont; and Phyllis Scheer of Aurora, Colorado; two brothers, Waldemar “Wallace” Scheer and Obert Scheer, both of Arlington; four sisters, Esther Grebe of Fremont; Frieda Walkenhorst of Arlington; Lilly (Mrs. Walter) Krohn of Fremont and Wilma (Mrs. Arthur) Krohn of Hooper; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Randell Scheer, Gregg Scheer, Brian Scheer, Kendall Scheer, Daryl Mueller and Gerald Ruskamp.

Rosalyn Vogt was organist.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s School.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.

Oscar Henry Scheer was born April 27, 1905 at rural Arlington, Nebraska to John F. and Wilma (Schormann) Scheer. He lived all his life in the Arlington area. He farmed north east of Arlington until 1958 when he moved into Arlington. Oscar then worked for Consolidated Blenders for 15 years before retiring.

He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was baptized on May 14, 1905 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 13, 1919. His church activities include voters assembly, finance board, choir and octet and also, was a member of St. Paul’s school board for many years.

Oscar married Esther Dickmeyer on May 17, 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington.

Oscar passed from this life on Sunday, February 18, 1990 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; sons and daughters-in –law, Marlin and Joni Scheer of Arlington; Wayne and Linda Scheer of Fremont and Phyllis Scheer of Aurora, Colorado; brothers, Waldemar ”Wallace” Scheer and Obert Scheer, both of Arlington; sisters, Esther Grebe of Fremont; Frieda Walkenhorst of Arlingotn; Mrs. Arthur (Wilma) Krohn of Hooper; and Mrs. Walter (Lilly) Krohn of Fremont; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Verdell; brothers, Gerhardt, Otis, and Alfred Scheer; and a sister, Helen Geisler.
