OSCAR W. SCHEER, 87

Oscar W. Scheer, 87, of Arlington died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services were Monday, Oct. 5, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. The Rev. Dr. Michael L. Rogers officiated.

Pallbearers were Larry Rinas, Dale Lauritsen, Eugene and Gene Gnuse, Don Lottman and Alfred Stranghoener, and grandchildren Todd, Bruce and Greg Scheer, Troy, Aaron, Wade and Annette Fluckey and Brian and Tony Bishop.

Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Arlington.

Oscar W. Scheer was born Oct. 27, 1910 in Washington County to Henry and Elizabeth (Stranghoener) Scheer.

He had farmed near Arlignton until 1975 when he retired. He had moved into Arlington in 1976.

For 21 years, he and his wife had wintered in Mesa, Ariz.

He had been living at Arbor Manor in Fremont since 1994.

He is survived by his wife, LeNora; one son and daughter-in-law, Dalvin and Betty Scheer of Arlington; two daughters and one son-in-law, Venna Bishop of San Jose, Calif.; and Eula and Jim Fluckey of Papillion; nine grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Freida Lottman.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity.

Reckmeyeer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

Oscar William Scheer was born on October 27, 1910 in Washington County, Nebraska. He was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Stranghoener) Scheer. He married LeNora J. Gnuse on November 11, 1934 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, Nebraska. He farmed near Arlington until 1975 when he retired. He moved into Arlington in 1976 and spent winters in Mesa, Arizona for 21 years. He had been residing at Arbor Manor in Fremont since 1994.

Oscar was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington; a former member of the Pathfinder Club of Fremont; We Go Club of Washington County; the Good Sam Camping Club and Spinning Wheels Square Dance Club, both of Arlington.

Oscar passed from this life on Wednesday, September 39, 1998 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, Nebraska at he age of 87 years, 11 months and 3 days. He is survived by his wife, LeNora; son and daughter-in-law, Dalvin and Betty Scheer of Arlington; daughters and son-in-law, Venna Bishop of San Jose, California and Eula and Jim Fluckey of Papillion, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Freida Lottman.
