The family located in Cuming City township where the husband was engaged in farming.

He was engaged in farming in Washington county the greater part of his life and held a wide acquaintance, being held in the highest esteem by his many friends.

W. H. BARTON DIED TUESDAY

PASSED AWAY OF HEART TROUBLE AT THE BLAIR HOSPITAL WHERE HE HAD BEEN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS

William Henry Barton died at about 11 o’clock last Tuesday night at the Blair Hospital, where he had been for several weeks with an acute heart trouble. For many years he had been bothered with varicose veins in his leg and blood poison had set in. This with his weakened heart condition brought the end rather suddenly.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock last Thursday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. There was a large attendance of relatives and old friends of the family and the many floral offerings bore mute testimony to the high esteem in which Mr. Barton and his family was held in the community.

Mr. Barton was born in Effingham County, Ill., October 12, 1864, so was almost 64 years of age. When a lad of 12 years he came to Nebraska with his parents in a covered wagon, as many others did in those days. They settled on the farm in Cuming City township which Glen Wilson has just purchased.

He was married to Miss Francis Matteson January 27th, 1897 and four children were born to them, one dying in infancy.

For several years the family had been living on the old Gus Warrick farm, which his sons, Floyd and LeRoy were farming, Miss Anna Barton being their housekeeper. A daughter, Blanche, Mrs. John Bruce, lives in this city.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers and five sisters, Solomon Barton, of Arlington; Lydia, Mrs. Joe Pixley, of Ainsworth; Elmer Barton; Frances, Mrs. Boone Newkirk; Miss Anna Barton; Lester Barton; Stella, Mrs. Sam McGowan; and Esther, Mrs. Nels C. Nelson, all of Blair.

CARD OF THANKS: We wish in this way to express our most sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends for their great kindness to us and the manifest sympathy shown us during the illness and after the death of our beloved father. We wish to especially thank those who sent the floral tributes in his memory, the minister, singers and pallbearers for their kindly services.

FLOYD BARTON, LEROY BARTON
